Disposal of your waste

Waste separation in Ascona essentially distinguishes between normal household waste, recyclable materials (paper, glass, PET, aluminum/tinplate), and hazardous waste (used oil, electronic devices, batteries, etc.). Separate disposal of waste is mandatory. Many supermarkets have containers for the various recyclables. We offer the following collection options in the entrance area of Casa Wülfingen:

Waste paper (please without plastic sleeves, advertising CDs, etc.) can be disposed of in the large blue chest in the passageway next to the doorbell. Please fold cardboard boxes flat.

For PET bottles (please flatten them), a blue bin is available in the southeast corner of the garage courtyard (facing the exit, on the right between the last parking space and the wall of the neighboring building). For recycling purposes, it is important that only beverage bottles are collected separately. Please dispose of all other plastic packaging, plastic films, yogurt cups, etc., with your regular household waste. Milk cartons can be taken to the collection points at some supermarkets.

Next to the blue bin, you will find a yellow bin for aluminum and tinplate such as beverage and metal cans, metal lids, etc. (please clean out any food residue, no plastic bags). Please compress aluminum beverage cans!

Glass (bottles, cleaned glass packaging without closures – metal closures in the yellow bin, corks and plastic closures in the residual waste) can be placed in the small plastic containers next to the bins for aluminum and PET or taken to a collection point yourself (e.g. the eco-center, see below).

Please dispose of all special waste yourself in the eco-center behind the Siberia (ice skating rink - Via Prà di Vizi 1).

If you dispose of waste yourself at the eco-center and are asked for an authorization card, please state that you are a holiday guest of Casa Wülfingen.

Please dispose of compostable waste with your regular household waste in the garbage bags or at the eco-center; unfortunately, we are unable to collect it separately. Our green containers are exclusively for the disposal of garden waste.

For household waste and residual waste , the municipality of Ascona introduced a "bag fee" on January 1, 2020. This means that waste must be disposed of in the official yellow garbage bags. We provide these bags for you. Please place full bags in the light gray container in the western corner of the garage courtyard. The lock can be opened with the same key that fits the garden gate on the way to the village and the gates to the bathing area (KABA 8 with a green ring). Please do not place any other plastic bags or individual items in the container, otherwise it will not be emptied or we will be fined.
